How are the weights calculated?
Weights of cryptos within the underlying index are based on the 3-month rolling average market capitalisation.
Are any coins excluded from the underlying index?
The investment universe is restricted by the listing criteria of Xetra and EU Benchmarks Regulations (BMR) restrictions. These exclude stablecoins, privacy coins, meme coins and coins from centralised crypto exchanges when deemed not decentralised enough.
How often does the underlying index rebalance? Does the ETP follow the same methodology?
The underlying index is independently rebalanced by Compass Financial Technologies every quarter following systematic and transparent rules laid out in the index methodology. The FCI ETP is also rebalanced quarterly to match the FCI Index.
Can the CoinShares finanzen.net Top 10 Crypto ETP be sold tax-free after holding for one year?
Currently the ETP cannot be sold tax-free. This is due to lack of clarity as to the tax treatment of staking (and the corresponding holding period). We are in the process of revisiting the issue to see if we can obtain sufficient clarity. We strongly advise consulting directly with a tax advisor to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the taxation regulations in Germany.
